H&M gets a new CEO as shares drop
H&M announced on Wednesday that company veteran Daniel Ervér will be taking the CEO role from Helena Helmersson, who has quit after four years and said the role had been “very demanding,” Reuters reported. This leadership switch comes as the Swedish retailer’s shares dropped 12% and sales fell by 4% for December and January compared to the previous year.
Fashion lacks in disclosing water-related risks
Despite water being a key factor throughout fashion’s supply chain, 90% of fashion brands do not disclose any water-related risks in their documentations, a new report from Planet Tracker, analyzing data from the top 29 major apparel brands, found. The report details that 15 of the 29 brands report on water usage to nonprofit disclosure system CDP, but not water risks. “Fashion is failing to address its water impact appropriately,” Richard Wielechowski, head of the textiles program at Planet Tracker, told Vogue Business. “More and more brands are reporting their greenhouse gas emissions for their owned activities and also Scope Three. We need to see a similar attitude to water impact.
Value of Beauty Alliance launches in EU
The Value of Beauty Alliance launched in Brussels on Wednesday after being created to highlight the importance of beauty to Europe’s economy. The six founding members include CEOs and presidents from L’Oréal, Beiersdorf, Givaudan, IFF, Kiko Milan and Ancorotti Cosmetics, and they all came together to present a report titled, “What Is the Value of Beauty.” The report focuses on economy, innovation, health, well-being, society and culture.
A.P.C. launches beauty brand
A.P.C. launched its first body-care line featuring cologne, shower gel, body lotion, hand cream, hand soap and lip balm on Wednesday. Each of the products have an orange blossom fragrance and are composed of at least 98% ingredients of natural origin, according to the brand.
